Trusts

The right structure to protect and pass on wealth.

We advise whether a trust suits you — then set it up and run it correctly.

A trust can protect assets, provide for vulnerable beneficiaries and support multi-generational planning. It is not for everyone — so we start by advising whether a trust is right for you, and only then establish and administer it correctly under South African law.

Who this is for

  • Families providing for minor or vulnerable beneficiaries
  • Business owners protecting and structuring assets
  • High-net-worth individuals planning across generations
  • Existing trustees needing proper administration and compliance

Common concerns we solve

  • “I've been told I need a trust but I don't know if it's right for me.”
  • “Our trust exists on paper but isn't being administered properly.”
  • “We're worried about trustee duties and compliance.”

  • Details of intended beneficiaries
  • A description of assets to be placed in trust
  • Any existing trust deed, if reviewing
  • Proof of address and FICA documentation

Questions

Trusts — common questions

There is no fixed maximum, but a trust needs at least one and, in practice, the Master commonly requires an independent trustee for family trusts. We help you structure trustees appropriately. (General information, not legal advice.)

Trusts are taxed at high rates, so they are rarely set up for tax alone. Their value is protection, continuity and control. We advise on the full picture before you commit.
